Premier Field Engineer Role Details

Proactive Support

Long term highly scoped engagements with onsite and remote customers. Key offerings: Workshops, Health Checks, Risk Assessment Programs, Supportability Re- views and Chalk & Talk.

Reactive Support

Short term deployments to customer sites across the globe for critical situations. Provide excellent trouble-shooting skills while managing the customer during an extremely difficult time.

Representing Microsoft

Provide technical leaderships for Premier customers around the world to promote health in their IT environments through onsite, remote and dedicated support services.

Technical Specialist

Highly skilled engineers with deep technical expertise in a given technology with proven troubleshooting experience.

Partnering

Effective working relationships with Microsoft Product Groups, Microsoft Partners and Microsoft Sales.

A day in the life: Escalation Engineer

Escalation Engineer Role Details

Escalation Engineer:

Provide 24×7 deep technical troubleshooting for escalated issues that involve Microsoft’s most technically complex or politically sensitive support situations. Isolating problems directly that affect customer systems on site may be required.

Technical Expertise:

Use trace analysis, source code, and other sophisticated debugging tools to analyze problems and develop solutions to meet customer needs.

Interface to the product group:

Provide customer feedback to the product group, regarding common problems. Work together to provide solutions to the customer which may include hot fixes and changes to the design of the product.

Mentor:

Train Support Engineers and help them resolve support cases. Help make others great with coaching and leadership skills. Learn from someone different from you.

Proactive Services:

Develop workshops, deliver customized health checks, supportability reviews, and risk assessments. Provide training to colleagues and customers.

Marie Michelle Strah PhD

What does your role involve?

I provide business strategy consulting and go to market services for global partners in the Microsoft Cloud OS Network and help define National Cloud infrastructures for countries around the world.

I work at the intersection of cloud,  mobility and data privacy and security and enjoy helping clients innovate and harness data insights while minimizing risk.

How does your role at Microsoft enable you to have an impact on the  world?

I’m the worldwide lead for Enterprise Information Management and have the opportunity to grow our community and intellectual property across EIM, internet of things, mobility and cloud. Working with a great team of SMEs we’re able to influence how Microsoft drives information as a strategic asset for public sector and commercial customers.

What made you decide to work at Microsoft?

Opportunities for global impact.

What is it about Microsoft that keeps you here? 

My colleagues and team.

What activities do you enjoy in your spare time?

I’ve been known to sing show tunes to my dog when not traveling, exploring wineries, hitting flea markets and reading everything I can get my hands on.

Microsoft Services Engagement Managers operate in one or more of the following areas:

 

Client Engagement:

Responsible for closing multiple, concurrent consulting services sales. This includes defining project scope, developing proposals, creating statement of work, negotiating contracts, and partnering with resource managers to staff project teams, to drive accelerated business change through the innovative use of Microsoft® technologies.

Deployment:

Monitors the performance of Microsoft consultants and partners on engagements, communicating with the account executive, project teams, and customers. Works in close collaboration with the Microsoft project manager, providing hands-on project management expertise as required.

Partnering:

Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with Microsoft partners, the Microsoft product groups, sales, legal, and commercial and other functions within Microsoft, as well as external bodies as required. Technical Knowledge Develops and maintains a good working knowledge of current and future Microsoft products and technologies.

Technology Consulting:

The provision of a product-specific, technical focus offering advice, guidance, and troubleshooting. The leadership and management of architectural design sessions for customer engagements.

Strategy Consulting:

Acting as a trusted advisor, building and maintaining long-term customer relationships. Utilizing industry knowledge, producing appropriate customer business solutions. Providing technical road maps to advise on the use and deployment of Microsoft® technologies.

Did you know that International Women’s Day  is celebrated yearly on March 8th? It’s considered an official holiday in several countries!

Yearly, the United Nations declares an annual theme.  The theme for 2014 is “Inspiring Change.”
